What If T’Challa is Star-Lord? Sign me up!
I was so excited to watch this episode since the very first teaser Marvel dropped for Star-Lord T’Challa! Guardians of The Galaxy and Black Panther are some of the movies I love!
Before we dive into this episode, check out my review for Episode 1!

What If…? Episode Two: What If T’Challa Became Star-Lord?
Quick Recap 📝
In a callback to Guardians of the Galaxy, the episode opens with T’Challa as Star-Lord retrieving the orb in Morag. Korath and his troops tries to stop T’Challa but he recognizes him as Star-Lord. T’Challa joins The Ravagers, led by Yondu, after being mistakenly kidnapped thinking he was Peter Quill.
Nebula enlists the help of T’Challa and The Ravagers to steal The Embers of Genesis from Tanaleer Tivan, aka The Collector. They use the orb containing the Power Stone as a distraction, as T’Challa looks for the Embers only to find a Wakandan Spacecraft and learns the truth that Wakanda wasn’t destroyed like what Yondu led him to believe. Nebula seemingly betrays the team who were captured.
T’Challa fights Tivan but Tivan locks him in a cell. Carina, Tivan’s assistant, helps T’Challa escape along with Tivan’s other living collections. They defeat Tivan and successfully escapes Knowhere. T’Challa forgives Yondu about the lie and they travel to Wakanda where he reunites with his family.
Meanwhile, Ego finds an adult Peter Quill working in a Dairy Queen.
Episode Thoughts 🧠
If I’m falling in love, I want it to be with this episode! Nature versus nurture being the central theme was very interesting too.
Two of my favorite movies packed in one amazing episode was such a treat! I really love the differences in this episode! Star-Lord being recognized and popular, The Ravagers going straight helping the galaxy, Nebula with her wonderful hair, AND THANOS BEING A GOOD GUY? 🤯
I was so surprised with that twist and I think everyone else was too! That was such a fun easter egg and I love how everyone keeps him in check with like “yep, still genocide” remarks! 🤣 It was also fun to see the characters back like Korath, Kraglin, Taserface, and The Black Order who works for Tivan in this universe.
It was also great to hear Chadwick Boseman play T’Challa again. I especially loved the part when he discovered the spacecraft and the Wakandan drums started playing. Every time I hear that music, it always gives me chills! I’m so happy this isn’t the last we’re seeing of T’Challa in the series!
Also, I wonder if Ego and Quill would re-appear. I think they could be a setup as the big baddies for the series since the teasers show a team-up ala Avengers-style so I’m guessing it could be against them?
What If T’Challa Became Star-Lord? Well, Star-Lord would become a more interesting character.
Overall Thoughts 💡
I can’t wait to watch the rest of the series! I hope that they would continue this format where they expand the universe more and go beyond the scope of the movies. That’s really what set this episode apart from the first one.
I really can’t wait to watch the rest of the series! I’m looking forward to the Marvel Zombies and King Killmonger episodes the most!
