The Rundown is where I recollect and wrap up stuff every two months. Check out other wrap-up posts here.

The past two months have been pretty eventful for me. I did read books, but I mostly watched stuff and you can blame The Falcon and The Winter Soldier for that.

So What Happened?

Summer is here… and I hate it. It’s so hot and humid 🥵 and the fact that we can’t go out makes it even worse. But I started reading again so that was fun. I was able to maximize my Notion dashboard and planner in setting out content and just in my personal day-to-day.

I read 5 books, 2 graphic novels, and 1 comic issue which means I already crushed my Goodreads Reading Goal of 3 books. 😎

Movies 🎞

I watched a lot of movies these couple of months that I had to check back on my Letterboxd account because I kinda lost count 😅 You can check out the whole list of movies I’ve watched plus the ratings on my Letterboxd profile, but I wanted to highlight some films that I really enjoyed.

Moxie (2021)

Dir. Amy Poehler

Cast

Hadley Robinson

Lauren Tsai

Alycia Pascual-Peña

The Broken Hearts Gallery (2020)

Dir. Natalie Krinsky

Cast

Geraldine Visnawathan

Dacre Montgomery

Monday (2020)

Dir. Argyris Papadimitropoulos

Cast

Sebastian Stan

Denise Gough

Moxie is an adaptation of Jennifer Mathieu’s novel of the same name. While I haven’t read the book, I was curious enough to watch the movie. I just knew that it was going to tackle feminism so I gave it a shot, and I actually enjoyed it!

The Broken Hearts Gallery is something I just discovered while looking for a cheesy rom-com on Netflix. It was really cute and just a feel-good movie.

Monday is something I’ve been looking forward to because first, it’s Sebastian Stan. Second, it’s Sebastian Stan in Greece; Third, he was really proud of doing this movie and it made me curious. It’s a really raw and genuine story, and I really see why he’s proud of it. Tl;dr watched for Sebastian Stan, stayed for the story.

TV Shows 📺

Now for the TV rundown, I finished two Korean dramas in March which were Tunnel and Thirty But Seventeen. Tunnel was so good and I love the twists and overall storytelling. I think I like it better than Signal, maybe on the same level as Life on Mars. Meanwhile, Thirty but Seventeen was just super cute and adorable. I think it’s going to be in my top ten favorite K-dramas.

But hands down, this is the highlight for me. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has totally obliterated my reading schedule, especially towards the end of the series.

This was my most anticipated MCU project for Phase 4, for Bucky reasons 😜, but also I’m really looking forward to Sam being Captain America since that scene in Endgame. I really enjoyed this series, especially diving deep into Sam and Bucky’s character and relationship as a duo.

I also appreciate how the show got real with tackling institutional racism, PTSD, veteran treatment, and identity. Marvel should continue to go forward with weaving social issues into their content, while also giving space and voice to BIPOC characters and creators. Looking at the future MCU projects makes me happy because it’s more diverse!
